Farm Update

The wet weather has slowed down everything on the farm this year, but we are catching up! Seeds were slow to sprout, which we hear everyone in our area is having the same problem. About half of our plants are in the ground and the others will be in as soon as the ground is workable. We should have peppers and tomatoes available in a few weeks.

Our winter garlic crop is growing strong and should be ready for harvest and to begin the drying process by the end of May. Look for garlic bulbs to be available in the summer.

A variety of herbs are growing including Red Shiso Perilla. It is doing quite well and will be available very soon.

We have flowers and various plants available for landscaping needs. They are all growing in the ground and will be dug up upon order. We have iris bulbs, violets, ajuga and trillium available for $1. Hostas and Solomon's seal are $2 each. We can even help with planting. Visit our Landscaping page for more info on things we can help with around your home.

The cool nights have kept the soldier fly grubs dormant so they are not yet available, which is a bummer because it is time to be on the water doing some fishing and they make great fish bait. We had a ton of mature grubs that have recently become adult flies and laid some eggs. We should have a big bunch of larvae soon!

A lot of our specialty peppers have already been pre-purchased for the year through agreements in our Growing Services program, but we plan to still have some extra available for purchase. We plan to offer shipping on the varieties that can survive the shipping process so those of you who are not local can still get some of our peppers. Look for more info on that in the near future.

As we wait to plant and harvest, we can at least enjoy the Spring blooms and colors that decorate the farm!

Terracycle Expansion

We previously announced that we are now a drop-off location for two of Terracycle's recycling programs. We will continue to accept items as part of Clif Bar's Energy Bar Wrapper Recycling Program and the GoGo SqueeZ Recycling Program, as well as expanding to accept all sports nutrition packaging as part of the new GU Performance Nutrition Recycling Program. This program collects packaging from any sports nutrition product of any brand, including drink mix packets and gels which we did not previously accept in the Clif program. Please note we will only accept gel packets and multi-serving gel containers if they have been CLEANED and DRIED first! We cannot ship goopy, dripping packages to Terracycle, so please do not bring them to us in that condition.

As before, you can drop them off here at the farm or give them to Dustin if you see him at a bike race. Thanks!
