Other

We offer a variety of other services in addition to our fresh produce and canned goods. We have a Growing Services program where we can grow specific vegetables and plants for you. We also offer select Seeds, Luffa Sponges, Black Soldier Fly Grubs, and local Lawn Care Services. Find out more about each below.

Growing Services Program

Do you make your own seasoning, rub or sauce? Need a specific product to make your perfect blend of spices? Would you rather have local, homegrown produce ingredients, but don't want to have your own garden? Sweetwater Farms offers growing services for people just like you! Tell us what you need grown and we will grow it for you. You can direct us to the seeds you want or send them straight to us. We will do this for any kind of vegetable or herb that we can grow in our region. Space for the program is limited. Payment for seeds and a small start-up fee are required to join the program. Contact us for more information.

Just to give you an idea of what we do with the growing services, we are currently growing Anaheim Chili, Trinidad Scorpion, Ghost, Habanero, Carolina Reaper peppers that are being used by local rub and soup makers. We are also growing specific Sunflowers and Marigolds for neighbors and family. We can help you too!

If you live away from our local area and need hot peppers you can still be part of the program! We can ship fresh hot peppers, or dehydrate them for you!

***Our Growing Services program for Spring/Summer 2024 is now closed.***

Our peppers have been used to make spicy seasonings, rubs, salsa and sauces.

Some of our peppers become fermented hot sauces like these from Dew of Acheron Hot Sauce.

Ornamentals
We also have a few ornamentals available this year. The first is the beautiful red Cockscomb flower. These seeds from this type of crested Celosia were harvested at the end of 2021 for the 2022 growing season. Our plants were grown from seeds harvested from Cockscomb grown at Monticello in Virginia, home of the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. Gardening and farming were passions of President Jefferson and the Cockscomb flower was among his favorite to cultivate. You will see why when you see its unique, large, red comb of a flower atop a tall, green stalk. The flower can be as big as your head! They are quite easy to grow from seeds, and look beautiful in your landscaping or cut in a vase to adorn the inside of your home! Available in packs of 50 seeds.

Ornamental Peppers can be used to brighten your landscaping. Our seed mix contains two varieties: Meduse and Sangria. Both produce multi-colored mini peppers on small, compact plants. The peppers will eventually ripen to red. Both types are edible, but not known for great flavor. Medusa peppers tend to be longer and thin, sometimes spiraling upon themselves. Sangria is a short, stubby pepper that looks like small, pointed light bulbs. Plants make a great conversation starter.

Luffa Sponges

We have been growing luffas here on the farm for several years. The ripe gourds are dried, peeled, seeded and washed before the sponges are dried in the sun which helps give them a white color. We use them for all sorts of cleaning here on the farm including scrubbing dishes and washing equipment, and even sometimes in the shower. The sponges are a bit stiff at first, but soften with use. They dry quickly which helps to keep them from molding like other sponges can be prone to. They are 100% natural as well.

Lawn Care and Landscaping Services

Sweetwater Farms also offers lawn care services for residents in our immediate area. We will service any of our Balthrop Rd and Oaklawn Rd neighbors!
