Soldier Grubs

We raise Black Soldier Fly larvae

***Our Black Soldier Fly larvae are now dormant for the winter! They will be available again in late Spring.***

The grubs are most-readily available in the immature eating stage, perfect for starting your own compost, feeding reptiles and for use as fishing bait! We also have mature wandering grubs available in smaller quantities, also useful for feeding reptiles and fishing. Contact us for more info.

Composting
Adding several hundred or thousands of grubs to your compost pile will dramatically increase the speed at which viable compost is produced. The grubs also reduce the smell of a compost pile by breaking down the material faster, which also reduces the need for turning the compost. Whether you want to make compost for your garden or just cut down on the waste you send to the landfill, soldier grubs can help!

Feeding Pets
Soldier Grubs are great for feeding bearded dragons, geckos, chameleons, frogs, turtles, birds and more. Our grubs are raised on vegetables only, so they are as clean as can be for your reptiles and birds. Soldier Grubs have been sold in pet shops under the names CalciWorms, ReptiWorms and Phoenix Worms for years. They are high in nutrition to keep your pets healthy, providing 20-60x more calcium than other common feeder insects so you can eliminate nutritional deficits and the need to dust with a supplement before feeding. They are also contain high amounts of lauric acid which protects against diseases such as Coccidia. The grubs are quiet and have no odor, both great qualities for keeping them in your house between feedings. The grubs can live 2-3 weeks in their container giving you plenty of time to feed your pets. Soldier Grubs make for a great alternative to crickets, mealworms and waxworms.

Approximate Nutritional Content of Black Soldier Fly Larvae:

Calcium:Phosphorus Ratio - 1.5:1
Protein - 17.3%

(Nutrition information according to ReptiWorms)

Fishing Bait
Soldier Grubs work great for fishing. All fish like them. We have caught bluegill, shellcracker, bass and catfish on our grubs. The grubs are easy to place on the hook. They don't bite and they don't have spines to poke you with. The grubs will wiggle on the hook, further attracting the attention of hungry fish. Grubs are quiet and have no odor like crickets and other live bait. Soldier Grubs can live 2-3 weeks in their container giving you plenty of time to make a few trips to the water without buying more bait.
